Hydromorphone is a similar opioid to oxymorphone and can be used as a sedative and analgesia agent in cats.

Combinations of drugs, such as acepromazine and medetomidine allow it to be used in post-operative orthopedic cases as well as exploratory laparotomy[1].

Hydromorphone can be given SQ or IM, and respiratory depression does occur at high doses[2].
