Benazepril is an orally-available angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor which inhibits angiotensin production, thereby reducing vascular hypertension. Its pharmacokinetics are similar to enalapril.

It is indicated for various causes of congestive heart failure such as dilated cardiomyopathy.

The recommended dose is 0.25 - 0.5 mg/kg once daily. If, after 14 days, the clinical response is inadequate, enalapril may be administered at 0.5 mg/kg twice daily.

This drug can be used alone or in combination with digoxin and furosemide.
