Fentanyl is an opioid drug used for the treatment of chronic pain in dogs.
It is commonly used as a transdermal patch, applied to glabrous skin, acting as a slow-release product.
Fentanyl binds to μ-receptors and is 75 to 100 times stronger than morphine, reaching peak blood level 12 hours psot-application.
Individual patches last at least 4 days.
It is indicated for long-term management of osteoarthritis.
