Proligestone is a synthetic steroidal progesterone drug (progestin).
Proligestone induces suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, resulting in suppression of corticotrophin-releasing hormone and plasma glucocorticoid levels, reduced insulin sensitivity and a predisposition to diabetes mellitus, mammary hyperplasia and acromegaly.
Recommended dose is 5 mg/kg.
