Pneumonia

Pneumonia is defined as an inflammatory lung disease.

Infectious agents include: bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.

Clinical symptoms include fever, coughing, dyspnea and in severe cases, hematoptysis and epistaxis.

Causes of pneumonia in cattle include:

- Bovine respiratory syncytial virus
- Bovine viral diarrhoea
- Bovine herpes virus-1
- Bovine respiratory disease
- Pseudomonas spp, Mannheimia haemolytica, Histophilus spp
- Arcanobacterium pyogenes, Mycoplasma spp
- Dictyocaulus viviparus
- Acute bovine pulmonary emphysema and edema
- Atypical interstitial pneumonia ('fog fever', 'rye-grass staggers')
