From Dog

Acetazolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor which acts as a diuretic in dogs[1].

This drug acts by inhibiting NaHCO3 and NaCl reabsorption in the ascending loop of Henle[2].

This drug is indicated in acute renal injury associated with oliguria or anuria, or in cases of pulmonary hypertension[3], generalized systemic or peripheral edema.

This drug has also been used for treatment of caval syndrome[4] and cerebral edema associated with syringomyelia and hydrocephalus[5].

Recommended dose rate in dogs is 5 - 10 mg/kg given orally every 8 - 12hrs.
