Carcinomas are neoplastic tumours that originate from epithelial cells. Some can be locally invasive and non-metastatic (such as squamous cell carcinoma) whereas other are highly metastatic (such as biliary carcinoma).

Adenocarcinoma, a form of carcinoma, have glandular epithelial neoplastic cells.
