Oral tumors

Below are listed some of the more common oral tumors in dogs which result in dental disease, in order of frequency.

- Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma - inner mouth, aligned with molars[9]
- Odontogenic myxoma[10]
  • Lingual
- osteoma - usually involves maxillary or mandibular bone with hard swellings of the tongue, jaw or face[11]
- liposarcoma[12] - usually firm oval mass
- arteriovenous hemangioma[13]
- Angiolipoma[14]

These tumors should be distinguished from non-neoplastic swellings such as sialocoeles and carnassial tooth root abscess.
