The adult dog biting lice, Trichodectes canis are small parasites, averaging approximately 1 mm in length, and relatively broad. Large populations may cause considerable irritation to dogs, especially pups. The lice can serve as intermediate host of the tapeworm Dipylidium caninum but is very much less important than fleas in this role[1].
