Atropine

Atropine is a sympathomimetic drug which has the effect of dilating pupils, increasing heart rate and reducing digestive activity.

This drug is primarily used for:

  • Pupil dilation for examination of the retina during ophthalmic examination
  • Treatment of acute uveitis
  • Antidote for parasympathetic overload in organophosphate toxicity
