Creatinine kinase is an enzyme produced by muscle cells and to a lesser extent, the brain, photoreceptor cells of the retina, hair cells of the inner ear, spermatozoa and smooth muscle,

Normal levels in dogs is 14 - 120 units/L.

In dogs with uroabdomen, diagnostic peritoneal lavage and abdominocentesis usually shows a creatinine level > 2:1 with serum creatinine[1].
