Prednisolone, the active metabolite of prednisone, is a potent corticosteroid drug.

It has both anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, allowing it to be used for immune-mediated disease and inflammatory conditions.

Recommended doses in dogs vary, depending on the disease which is being treated, but normal doses range from 1 - 5 mg/kg given each morning to coincide with endogenous corticosteroid levels.
